Topic 2. Nanowires and Nanotubes
Session Chairs:
- Dr. Sun Xiaowei, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
- Dr. Lionel Vayssieres, National Institute for Materials Science (Japan)
Nanowires and Nanotubes are emerging one-dimensional nanomaterials that have show great potential in mechanical, electrical, photonic and biological applications. They are capable of showing quantum effect and with a possibility of being easily manipulated. This session of nanowires and nanotubes covers a wide range of syntheses, devices construction, applications of nanowires, nanotubes, and other quasi-one-dimensional nanostructures and low dimensional nanomaterials. The topic includes, but not limited to the followings:
- Synthesis, ordered growth, growth mechanism and devices
- Patterning/alignment of nanowires and nanotubes
- Mechanical applications of nanowires and nanotubes
- Nanoelectronics based on nanowires and nanotubes
- Nanophotonics based on nanowire and nanotubes
- Gas, chemical and biochemical sensing based on nanowires and nanotubes
